The Senior Meat Cutter at Sam’s Club is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of meat products while delivering exceptional member service. This role involves cutting, trimming, and preparing various types of meat, maintaining food safety standards, and mentoring junior associates. As a Senior Meat Cutter, you will lead by example, ensuring the meat department operates efficiently and meets Sam’s Club’s standards for quality and service.

Key Responsibilities:

Meat Cutting and Preparation:

• Expertly cut, trim, and prepare beef, pork, poultry, and other meat products according to member requests and company guidelines.
• Ensure proper portioning and presentation of meat products for display.
• Utilize knives, saws, and other tools safely and efficiently while following company procedures.

Quality Control:

• Inspect and ensure the quality, freshness, and appearance of meat products.
• Monitor inventory levels to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, labeling, and rotation of products.

Customer Service:

• Provide exceptional service by assisting members with their meat selections and answering product-related questions.
• Take custom orders and recommend cuts, preparation methods, and cooking tips to enhance the member experience.

Leadership and Training:

• Mentor and train junior meat cutters and associates to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to company policies.
• Set a positive example by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.

Operational Efficiency:

• Assist in managing daily operations of the meat department, including scheduling, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Work closely with department managers to meet sales and operational goals.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience as a meat cutter or butcher in a retail, wholesale, or foodservice setting.
• Proficiency in cutting, trimming, and preparing all types of meat.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Preferred:

• Experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Certification in food safety or meat cutting.
• Familiarity with equipment maintenance and inventory management.
